Eloge Mulumba, the visionary and dedicated translator

Eloge Mulumba is a skilled and certified translator and interpreter with a wide range of talents. He is the seventh child in a family of twelve, and the son of a highly-regarded visual and copper-worker artist. Interestingly, his father was the artist commissioned to create the copper-made portrait that was presented by President Félix Tshisekedi to the Sheik Emirati during the closing ceremony of Expo Dubai 2020 in March 2022. Married with one child, Eloge Mulumba is a passionate enthusiast who excels in all his endeavors.

He spent his early childhood in Kinshasa, attending ISTK and Lycée Tobongisa in Binza Ozone for primary school. Next, he spent five years in Kasaï Oriental, where he continued his curriculum and received his primary education certificate. Upon completing two years at Petit Séminaire de Kalenda Musasa, he returned to Kinshasa and graduated from the Institut Mpumbu. Then, he attended Université Pédagogique Nationale, and graduated with honors from the School of Translation and Interpretation.

Eloge has been a proactive individual, commencing his career at a young age. He initiated his career at UPN, in an office that included print shop and cybercafé, prior to becoming a full-time student, opening his own business on the campus. Eloge developed his career by working for Tigo RDC and Orange RDC as a customer advisor from 2014 to 2017, while also freelancing as a translator. Upon graduation with honors in interpretation from National Pedagogical University, he transitioned to being a full-time translator in 2017. He also teaches French, Lingala, and other languages to Congolese and expats living in the Congo.

Eloge Mulumba founded TradExpert Team in 2017. The company provides translation and interpretation services, language and IT training, web development, digital consulting, tax consulting, and outsourcing. Additionally, we offer consultancy services, colloquially called "Fixer" in the audiovisual production industry. Additionally, we offer consultancy services, colloquially called "Fixer" in the audiovisual production industry. A fixer has extensive contacts and can help solve any issue and get anything done. This is where additional services such as web development, digital marketing, tax consultancy, and outsourcing come in. Eloge has served as a "Fixer" for Mediapro Africa, during the Pope's visit to the DRC and the 9e Jeux de la Francophonie. Plus, as a consultant, he works for Target Sarl as an interpreter and focus groups moderator for various projects, taking him to Rwanda and Burundi as a research officer. Furthermore, he has been working with international organizations, such as WWF, the Bureau of African Affairs, Fortescue Future Industries Ltd, ABT Associates, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and the Presidency of the Republic.

As a digital expert, the Manager of TradExpert views social media as "a public newspaper”, where one can discover all sorts of content: both positive and negative. It's crucial to strike the right balance and make the most of them." However, he notices that an immeasurable number of individuals abuse these digital tools, ultimately damaging the prospects of aspiring young entrepreneurs who hope to benefit from the solutions provided by social media. "Typically, when training opportunities are posted, all necessary information is included. It is important for us to consider this feedback, but we must also focus on providing clear and concise information upfront." However, it is discouraging to see many of my fellows, whom I refer to as clowns, immediately flood the comments section with questions such as 'What is your address?' and 'How can I contact you?' Additionally, some take it upon themselves to lecture us, suggesting that we expand offers beyond city centers. Others, even more inconsiderate, may contact you through WhatsApp without any real interest or ask questions that are clearly answered in the posters. For instance, out of 100 prospective clients, only 2 or 3 may enroll in the course. Among the others, some individuals may claim to live far away and express their surprise that the offer isn't closer to their location. "This behavior causes losses for professionals, who struggle to achieve their objectives," he laments.

Politics can still wait

Éloge Mulumba resides in a nation with over 900 political parties, where the youth aspire to hold ministerial positions and contest for parliament. Nonetheless, when it comes to joining politics, he asserts that he is not yet prepared. "I will inform you when the time is right," he says. According to him, political parties are currently preoccupied with everything except for well-thought-out strategies. Thus, he denounces the worship of political figures. "Rather than blindly following a "moral authority" and obeying their every command, individuals should break free from voluntary subjugation and focus on our shared future. By doing so, we can adequately prepare for it and avoid making costly mistakes in our business endeavors."

Nicknamed the "priest" because he is an advanced computer user and other related fields, this child of a copper-made artist expresses his regret about not knowing how to play a musical instrument. However, he quickly reassures us that it's "something I need to learn." His ambition is to earn "several million dollars that are eluding us in the multilingual communications industry, with translation and interpreting services." It's feasible to earn a substantial amount of money in Congo. Rather than stating that the only way to make money is in Congo without traveling overseas, I suggest reframing it as the possibility of thriving in Congo. However, success is not solely based on financial gains. This is comparable to the Japanese concept of "ikigai", which is a technique of self-discovery, exploring one's strengths and weaknesses while taking appropriate action towards a fulfilling life.

An enthusiastic believer, the young Congolese translator values his knowledge of God and his awareness of death above all else. "Because it gives meaning to our daily lives to always seek God's approval with constancy, because we never know when our 'breath of life package' will run out."
